Christmas Decorating..Think Outside the Box
Are you stuck in a creative lull? It's easy to do, especially when it comes to Christmas; we tend to think in shades of reds and greens. But, why stick to the same old colors each year when there is a whole rainbow of beauty to utilize?
Don't get me wrong, I love the traditional colors, they take me back to my childhood and feelings of being warm and cozy, waiting by a roaring fire and dreaming of Santa coming down the chimney. (how did he manage to get past that fire anyway?)
I have discovered a secret many people don't realize, you can get those same feelings of being surrounded by something magical using any color, pinky swear.
You can probably guess which color scheme I chose this year!
I used to think that blue and white would make Christmas feel cold, but I absolutely love the way these colors seem to wrap around me like a warm blanket, especially when the lights are on.
Not only did my handy husband add the awesome blue LED lights around the old barn frame, but he added a little humor with the Abominable Snow Monster. (It's taken me a few years to realize that it's okay to add some humor to decorating as well. Yes, I'm a recovering stodge, haha!)
I call this my bird's nest tree. I ummm….think the reasons are obvious. Once again, don't be afraid to think outside the box. It's ok to go outside and find natural elements to decorate with. In fact, it's more than ok, after all, it is a TREE we are decorating.
So, get out there and get creative. Think outside the box and be prepared to wow people, especially yourself!
