Why do I paint pennies?

Pennies, pennies, everywhere...

I've had quite a few people ask me why I chose pennies as a canvas, and honestly, the answer is both simple and complicated. You'd have to crawl inside my mind for the complicated version, and I don't recommend anyone take on that journey. So, for the sake of everyone's sanity, I'll give you the simple version.

I've always rooted for the underdog, and let's face it, in the world of commerce, pennies are as low as it gets. But yet, there is something so intriguing about these little coins. Each one has its own story, one that can never be told, only imagined.

Let's take a closer look....

Do you see what I see? Both coins, made decades and decades apart, both carry some pretty amazing words, "In God We Trust". And the coolest thing? The older pennies phrase is richer, the color deeper, almost as if time has only increased the relevance of the words. It's a reminder to me, and I hope anyone who wears one of these mini pieces of art, that God is, was, and always will be where we should first trust.

Can I paint a scene on specific penny dates...

I have had requests for specific dates of pennies, and to be honest, it's very difficult to search through 100's and 1000's of coins for that special year. If I know I have it on hand, then of course I'll say yes, but otherwise, I don't want these charms to be about the year stamped on them, but rather the meaning of the words, "In God We Trust". Not only that, but the endurance of these little guys. Just like many of us, they have been picked up, discarded, stepped on and basically thought of as useless, but yet they endure, as should we. Let it be a reminder of your own perseverance.

Thank you to each and every one of you have supported me!

I would not be able to do what I love without all of you, and I want you to know how very appreciated you are.
